Hi All, If someone can solve this riddle for me I will be forever in your gratitude. Love this forum. Just stumbled across it. What the hell was the cartoon that used to be on in the 80s i am nearly sure (I am 30 now)
All i can remember in every episode is that either the opening or closing used to feature like a character playing a fiddle sitting under a tree i think and I can remeber a fox or something similar coming down from the tree and jumping down on the guys shoulder or something. Tell me I didnt dream this up. I am certain this was a cartoon and the character playing the fiddle was like a kind of character from robin hood that lived in a forrest. Again my memory is vague on this.

If you can answer this you are a genius!!

    Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think of is Walt Disney's 1973 Robin Hood movie. The character playing the instrument may have been Alan A'Dale.

I'm not 100% but I think it could have been "Ralph McTell" or something along those lines. Beardy bloke sitting at the bottom of a tree..strumming on a guitar and there are rabbits or squirrels around him...him singing along..gonna do some more investigating:)

Here's the song he sings, but I cant remember the name of the cartoon, the Storyteller maybe?

"I'm a storyteller, and my stories must be told.
I have many stories, tales for both the young and old.
On my many travels I have seen many faces,
many tales have I from many places.
In Russia I am Ivan, in England I am John.
In Germany I'm Johan, In Sweden I am Jan."

    Not sure...it has an ITV feel to it...so I'd guess ITV..mid 80's.

Loved the opening to that show.
Especially the cute fox. it was pure class.

Always a bit of a cringe factor when watching shows
that were not english/irish based where the Actors did
not actually speak or were dubbed or silent

I remember it as 'In England I am John' not 'America'. Great show that. Loads of after school having dinner, before homework memories.:o
