Ok any ideas, I need to get out running more and I have a 5 year old. Any ideas what to do with her? was thinking letting her cycle while I run but she'd probably get tired, she's probably a bit big to go In a buggy (and running while pushing her.. not sure how'd that would go).

I get sitters when I can but couldn't get one 5 nights a week.

    Anyone got an idea?

Go to a track and let the child play in the infield (preferably when no throwers are training!!) while you do laps?

I run with my kids frequently, but they're a lot older. My son is 15, so I run with him sometimes for my recovery runs (closer to his pace) and my daughter (nine year old) who cycles behind or ahead of me on in the local park and sometimes around the neighbourhood. Couldn't imagine how a 5 year old could keep up, even with a bike, or if they'd even have the attention span.

Best thing to do, get your child interested in an outdoor activity (not sure what there is for 5yos) and run while they're doing their activity. We often do this while the kids are at swimming, football, gymnastics, Kung Fu (busy house!).

Knew someone in a similar position who ended up doing 90% of training in the early AM instead of evenings. Tough I know but it worked for her.

Training on the track while letting the little one play on the infield seems to be the best idea I can come up with

Just don't do the pushing the buggy thing! A mate of mine is currently training for a 100km endurance race and has a childs stroller he brings with him to carry his water and food. While out running in Wicklow one day he got pulled over by the gardaí- Somebody had apparently reported 'some fella running around horrid quick with a child in a pram'

    You couldn't write it :D

tis why I got a treadmill which I hate but it's better than nothing if I can't get out. I could probably do a short slow run with the eldest on a bike but not a chance with the youngest (4). Thankfully Mr bug is pretty good for getting home in time to "let" me out but it's good to have the tm as backup.

Have you signed her up for any summer camps. Mine are out 10.30- 2 this week which gives me extra time too.
