Last thursday I dyed my hair pink using Jean's colour. I had blonde highlighted hair already and got the lightest blond I could find in the supermarket to lighten it up the night before.

Was very happy with the results but its fading already and starting to look orangey :(

So my question is what do I do next? just throw another layer of pink dye in or go to terrisales and get some professional bleach first?

When my roots go out do I just bleach the roots or the whole thing?

    Thanks in advance hairdye veterans,

    Molby x

The colour's going to need to build up in your hair. You'll probably have to dye it pink a few more times before you get as far as having roots - at least that was my experience when I bleached it and dyed it pink.

Apparently putting table salt in the dye makes it more vivid and last longer, but I'm not sure about quantities, and unless you got details from someone who knew what they were talking about I wouldn't advise risking it.

When I dyed my pink, I used Crazy Colour and it lasted much longer then any other brand I had used before and you can get it in Terrisales for €7.50 (stocked up myself today :) ).
You only need to to re-bleach your roots when they start to show, and instead of leaving the dye on for the reccommended 15/20 minutes, if you leave it on for a couple of hours and apply some heat to it it absorbs better and lasts longer.
You also might wnat to change your shampoo to one that has colour protectors to help also.
Apart from that you have to remember that unnatural colours don't last long anyway, no matter what you use or your technique, they will always fade or wash out. You can only prlong the process by following these steps but nothing stops it completely from fading.
    Hope that helps! :)

thanks for the replies ladies, re did it last night and left it in for well over an hour, its now a very deep cerise instead of pinky/orangey

Its a deeper pink than I was initially looking for but I can always try another shade next time :D

    Thanks again! x
