    Hi All,

Have put deposit on a second hand car in a garage and am supposed to be picking it up and paying remainder of price this weekend however due to work issue I may not be able to go on Sat.
I would be getting someone else to drive car home for me anyway as I am only learning to drive but am wondering do I need to sign anything official in garage when I buy it or could I get my Dad to go collect and pay for it on my behalf. I really want to get it this weekend.

    Thanks

You would probably have to sign the log book, cos if your dad filled it out, it would be registered in your dads name. Give the garage a ring and they'll put you in the right direction.

Yes you have to sign the change of ownership section of the current Vehicle Licencing Cert that the dealer has. He will then post it off to the DOE in Shannon who will in turn issue you a new one.
