    Hi there,
How can i best take out sky as a new customer and get a hd box with component outputs? New boxes hdmi only.
Take out basic sky sub and purchase an old sky hd box with component elsewhere and ring sky to pair after? If so will it be possible to not have to pay the €15 per month hd sub (if i got new hd box instead) when pairing to just use it to view bbchd and itvhd on a basic subsciption of €20.50?
How would refer a friend help?
    Thanks

you can just buy the box, then ring sky to enable recording feature.

you dont have to get hd sub.

but you will only get bbchd itvhd and luxehd on the hd side.

or you could get something like this.

I really would recommend taking an old refurbished Sky Hd box...it may be possible to request one directly from Sky but the Thompson boxes are very unreliable in my opinion.

since I upgraded the transformer I have not had any problems.

    Thanks for the replies,
I thought that "hdfury" was needed to convert hdmi to component not just a simple converter lead?
So Itvhd will work on a SkyHd box without subscription as an other channel when tuned?
Thanks again, i heard about the thomson box issues alright

Yes ITV HD when available can be viewed via the other channels menu on Sky Hd boxes with the new EPG installed...

Thanks steveon, ITVhd available on other channels even without an active sky subscription then?
If so great as i can currently a only view bbchd on humax foxsat in non freesat mode as no hdmi port only component, great bbchd pic at present so would like itvhd too.

You can view ITV HD on your foxsat when its available by selecting ITV and pressing the red button.... U should also be able to find LuxeHD on non Freesat mode...

    Cheers
My tv does not have a hdmi input unfortunately and Itvhd (and bbchd) output over component is disabled in freesat mode, bbchd only (and luxe hd) available in non freesat mode over component.
So thats why i was wondering if an ex sub sky hd would output both over component.

Yes a Sky HD will output any HD channel on Component and also on an RF signal....which is also quite impressive in my opinion
