    Hi
Has anyone used QuteCom (the new WengoPhone) ?
I have just installed QuteCom and I am trying to make video calls on it between two blueface SIP accounts

However there is no option or obvious way to start a video call.

    Audio calls are fine

In the Video Configuration screen the webcam is fine on both systems when i select 'Webcam Preview' however when I try to make a test video call from the same screen I get an error

    Has anyone used QuteCom ?

I don't think Blueface supports video calls (video codec not installed ?).
I would frop them an email to ensure this 1st.

Also, I've seen some messages on Qutecom mailing list saying there were issues with the Video, see: http://lists.qutecom.org/pipermail/qutecom-dev/2009-July/date.html

    Thanks for that

I have see that mailing list before but the problem described is not the same as mine.

I will look for another SIP provider that does support video codecs and give that a try

It's hardly likely that any exist, because of bandwidth ect.

Why not just use Jabber or Google Talk? Any of those XMPP clients should work. Or you could try a client such as X-Lite that uses SIP for voice and H.264 for video. The video bandwidth used does not go through Blueface, it's peer-to-peer.

    Thanks for the info

Might try Japper and Google (or Empathy), seeing as one PC is using Ubuntu 9.04

I have tried Skype but the webcam hangs on me after about 1 min of the call so I am really just trying out alternatives
