The Dualshock has the vibration. I think thats the only difference. Sony originally couldn't use the vibration with the PS3 because of a dispute with the company that made them, so they said that the vibration would mess with the motion sensors in the new controller and left them out, creating the Sixaxis. Once the dispute was resolved, Sony could then put the vibration stuff back in, making the DualShock 3.

As for which is better, I'd say Dualshock.

It is also less flimsy compared to the SixAxis.

    DS3 is much better.

thanks for the info guys, I don't especially use vibration, but would probably go for the Dualshock if it's "less flimsy" than the sixaxis I'm currently using

    The Dualshock has the vibration.

Dualshocks break easier when you try to twist them in half :pac:

Seriously though, I've broken one dualshock from twisting, whereas I still have my stock sixaxis which has undergone a lot more punishment and is still working fine. My friend is the same also, he's gone through 3 dualshocks since getting his PS3 but his stock sixaxis is still working fine.

I think it's due to the fact that the sixaxis has the space for the vibration motors but they aren't actually inside it, it seems to give it more give and flex. I'd actually say the dualshocks are flimsier, they feel more solid, but this is probably a bad thing when drop kicking it during a megaman 9 session :p

Jebus. Sounds like your controllers go through some punishment. Its true really. A tradesman always blames his tools eh?

Well its just my lundgren-esque upper body strength that's the problem ;)

Thing is, I've never had a problem with the 360 controller. It's so well designed, it manages to be sturdy and durable. I really wish Sony would dump their old PS1 controller design and come out with something that looks and feels more ergonomic.

Ive both and i never use the six axis anymore the dual shock has a better weight to it. Plus the vibration is nice.

Dont know why the hell anyone would twist a controller !!!

Has anyone been playing UFC much?

Both my six axis and dual shock's right analogue cushion broke off from the constant rotating trying to lock in and get out of submissions.

    I'm not a happy camper!

I think the original Sixaxis is better purely because it's lighter.

I've hear lots of stories like that, i'd prefer to lose a fight than lose a 50 quid joypad so I just bate the buttons.

Back on topic, i find my DS takes longer to be recognised by PS3, red lights will flash for about 5 seconds, SA takes about 2 secs. no biggie but strange

Funnily enough my controller has both sixaxis and dualshock 3 written on it and does both.

Yup, I spend a lot of time looking at and appreciating the aesthetics of a controller while I'm gaming.

Controller without the Vibration feels ridiculously light, even the one with the vibration built in isn't heavy enough for my liking.

As much as the xbox itself is a pile of crap but truth be told, besides the fact it uses non recharagble AA batteries which is a pain in the ass, It feels very nice to hold and is alot heavier than my sixaxis, the rumble is great too. Havent tried the DS3 yet so maybe its better.

They've made 5 analog controllers and the analog sticks on PS3 are still rubbish. Playing FPS on Sony consoles sucks.

I really don't see any difference in a FPS on the PS and the Xbox....

Same here, but I find the PS3 controller fugly. I don't even own a 360 but have 2 of the controllers for the PC. For ergonomics and aesthetics I think the 360 controller is leagues ahead of the PS3. Even the matte finish on the white plastic compared to the PS3's glossed look.

I've only recently gotten around to liking the PS3 controller in games thanks to these €2 trigger clip-ons from Smyths. Trust me, they make a world of difference. I'm not nearly as good using the airbrakes in Wipeout HD without these.
