    Hi all,

I am getting married next year and seriously thinking bout buying the dress online as the shops are jus way too expensive!!

Im looking for people who can recommend gud reliable sites that actually send you the dress that is advertised!! I am very wary about buying it online so want to hear all storys from everybody!!

I have found 1 site that is www.myweddingsales.com and has the ideal dress that i love and is only $200 for the dress and postage. It seems way to good to be true and it is coming from shanghai china!!

    All info appreciated!

Hi, I've just started looking online too .... mostly to get ideas, and I came across this website: bridalonlinestore.com . They harp on a lot about how they are not Ebay, and not made in China. They are american and will ship to Ireland (for around 85 euro I think). Their prices are amazing though ... most expensive is about 400 dollars!!!

I've seen about 20 dresses on this site that I like!! However, l don't know how reliable they really are!

They have an interesting section on the state of dresses that they bought from china for research ... what the picture had and what they got. Some difference!!!

Don't know if you girls would be interested in buying second hand? I know on www.Weddingsonline.ie they have a buy and sell section.
I am thinking of putting my dress up there when I get around to cleaning it.
Dresses are only a couple of months old and are usually half the price, some of the girls seem to be meeting up to try them on, so I reckon you go and collect it and pay cash / cheque?

Oh and the reason I didn't buy 2nd hand was because I left it too late for ordering, so I didn't have time to have a back up plan in place. I did go to Oxfam in Dublin, but there wasn't anything that suitable for me.

I also seen a lovely dress in Debenhams, but would have had to order from the UK, and collect it up north or something, but at that stage it was too late and I had to put in a rush order with a bridal shop here.

Hi girls just make sure you check the size guides and look around for alterations and get some feedback from people who have had alterations done by whoever you use. My sister bought her dresses in a hop here and they are a disaster the shop ordered the wrong sizes and now its too late to get new ones. Go to a shop that has the style or same dress you want and try it on to be sure it suits and flatters you.

Have a look on eBay. There are a lot of Chinese bridal wear manufacturers who will make a dress to your size and specifications for very reasonable prices. Some of their designs are also very similar to big name bridal designs. Of course, being eBay you will find some bad and some good but they are not all bad -- always keep an eye on a sellers feedback rating if you want to be sure you will get a good service.
I know someone who bought their wedding dress from this seller and it was absolutely gorgeous. She was very happy with it.

I can recommend lee philips bridal in the US (google for their website).

If you find a wedding dress from a US manufacturer that you like here, they will order it for you and ship it. I saved about 60% of the cost of the dress here.

great tanks for the input guys!!

Just another thing I am weary about, 2 or 3 webstites that I have looked up are based in china and the pic's of the dresses they have up are the exact same on dese particular websites like same models in all!! is it something i shud be weary of??

This wedding malarky is not easy lol!!!

A lot of Chinese manufacturers copy dresses from other designers - that's why you will see the same pictures. As I mentioned above- if you are using eBay then look for a seller with an excellent feedback rating - read the comments from previous buyers. This will help you weed out the good from the bad.

I just thought id let you all know about this shop I went into the other day in Carlow its called The Wedding Collection http://www.theweddingcollection.ie/ they sell new & second hand dresses from as little as €500, they also sell everthing you can think of to do with weddings eg. jewellery, hair pins, cakes, shoes, flowers fresh or you can hire silk if you want, candles etc etc. Might be worth a look :)

Girls be very careful buying online, alot of those sites especially the ones coming from China are copies of dresses and not the real thing and often the material is cheap and not what you thought you were getting, RK bridal based in new york are a reputable company that sells dresses, there website is www.rkbridal.com, you have to ring them for prices though and they have no problem shipping to ireland, loads of girls on weddingsonline got their dresses through them. The best thing to do if unsure is to check on the designers own website and look under the authorised retailers section and it should list the company you are buying from, if it doesn't, don't buy from them! Hope this helps.
