    Hi,

I have looked through the other threads detailing 3 MMS settings, but I cannot send or receive any MMS messages....here are my settings:-

    APN: 3ireland.ie
    username:
    password:
    MMSC: http://mms.um.3ireland.ie:10021/mmsc
    MMS proxy: mms.3ireland.ie:8799
    MMS Max message size: 0
    MMS UA Prof URL:

Could someone check their working settings and let me know if I am missing something? Thanks!

Looks the same as mine. The only possible difference I see is that my Max message size is blank, rather than having a 0 in it.

Are you sure MMS Messaging is switched on in settings -> messages?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭anoble66

Yeah just checked and MMS is enabled in the message settings. I also removed the 0 from the MMS settings but it still fails.....wonder do I need different settings....I am PAYG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,310 ✭✭✭Harcrid

I presume you mean 3Pay when you say PAYG. I am also on 3Pay and the above settings work for me. Are you sure MMS sending is activated on your sim card? Have you been able to send mms messages with that sim in a different phone?

Got it working :) Just needed a reboot after changing the Max size from zero to blank....thanks!

    it is really STRANGE!!!

    I use the following settings:

    APN: 3ireland.ie
    username:
    password:
    MMSC: http://mms.um.3ireland.ie:10021/mmsc
    MMS proxy: mms.3ireland.ie:8799
    MMS Max message size:
    MMS UA Prof URL

reboot and ... still fu*king same, can't send mms.

the only thing is what could be a problem, i can't switch on the 3G mode because when i do that, signal immediately lost, and message: " restricted network...blah blah blah"

i use this sim card before, i sent many mms, so its not a problem with the sim card.

I just dont get it, 3 as a provider specialised for provide fast mobile internet, Iphone specialised to provide fast mobile, to use for email, mms internet etc.

but when u want to use it together, the whole thing is just fu*ked!!!
I dont get it, 3 as a provider already know, "we" are many(iphone users), but they are not to helpful to make all of the 3 customers happy to use their phone and the technology on maximum, and help us to set up our phone as quick and easy as possible.

I wont buy some sh*te phone presented by 3 just because it has skype( skyphone, what a sh*te!!!/no offence!/)

i want use phone what i like and i can afford, so if i have a fu*king iphone because that one what i want, than 3 have to PROVIDE the best service, including phone setup etc!!!!

Recession lads!!!! Do everything to keep me as your customer, because i pay your salary, and in this case your whole life!!!

This is the rule of the world, i pay you and you give me everything!!!!

Sorry, it was a bit offtopic, but im getting angry with this whole sh*te!!!

I just checked the official three ireland homepage, this is all the help what they give you on the site:

    " Q - how do i send picture messages?
A - Your existing phone needs to be updated with 3’s picture message settings, so that you can access the internet. All of our phones are slightly different, but the following should help you find and change the relevant settings: 1. Go to Settings > Message settings > Picture Message/MMS
    2. For the messaging server, please enter http://mms.um.3ireland.ie:10021/mmsc
    3. For the Access Point (APN) setting, please enter 3ireland.ie"

    where is the proxy?

typical, they give you some information, but not a complete information, on the official website.

yeah, this is still a mystery to me too, i thought mine was working but i still cannot send or receive any MMS messages..

    mms.3ireland.ie:8799

I think that's your problem: you need to find what your actual proxy is as in xx.xxx.xx.xxx rather than the version given above.

Try this and see if it works:

    217.171.129.2:8799

Tried it and still no joy.

Odd, as it appears to be working for anoble66. At the risk of asking the obvious, did you reboot afterwards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭The Villain

you're right, tried the reboot and still no joy. When i send the mms the phone loses the network and starts "searching". After about 1 minute the network is found, the phone connects but the MMS isn't sent. I'm at a loss.

What flavour of SIM is your 3 IRL SIM? It's not data-only?

My experiences in Cork have been that 3 can be less than tip-top. It is going to be hit and miss, depending on which part of Cork you're in.

I'm in youghal but when I use the sim card in my old phone from 3, the MMS's send and receive fine. On the Iphone, when I press send for the MMS, it loses network connection every time.

Haven't a clue if its data-only or not, is there a code on the SIM that lets you know??

    Hi,
There's no such thing as a stupid question but....

I'm configured my settings (three PAYG) and can now see MMS on under settings-> messaging.

So if I want to send an MMS do I have to install swirly mms or some app? I presume that I can't send MMS from normal 'messages' or from JellySMS (name implies not) EirText or some other texting app?

Is there any way to send free MMS messages or not?

    Cheers,
    Pa.

Is this SIM a normal SIM that allows calls or is it from your datamodem? If the latter you can't send MMS. If the former, you may need MMS provisioned on it.

Now that you have configured the settings, you may send MMS from within Messages -nothing else. You may send these as pictures, using the built-in camera or as LMS.

Unless you have a bundle on your tariff, you will have to pay for them.

I have some problems with 3 networks, since installing OS 3.0 and 3.1.
