E Drum Question

I have recently bought THIS e drum kit from maplin.

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98103

Having fun using the included software and I did a quick test and it works as a MIDI controller with the likes of Reason and so on.

My question is does anybody know if there are any other drum modules I can use with this?

The inbuilt module has a USB and MIDI out but not an audio out so it cannot be used as a stand alone unit and does not generate its own sounds and is therefore tied to a computer.

Can I simply plug in the drum pads into another drum module and use it?
Are most modules specific the a particular brand?
ie Roland pads with a Roland module and nothing else?

Thanks in advance for any comments or advice

Anything with Midi should work. Usually Chan 10 for drums.

    Thanks for the advice Paul.

Would this work with the kit I have?

    It should indeed.

In fact chances are it will just be a case of plugging Midi Out from your Drums to the Midi In on the DM5.

Unless the factory settings have been changed it will probably just 'go'.

If not the first thing to check is Midi Chans - as I say normally Chan 10.

Does anybody know of anywhere in Ireland I could pick up an Alesis DM5 or similar?

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/alesis_dm5_drum_module.htm - here.

Not a fan of getting stuff delivered online

I think i have the smaller version (the dm5) and a full alesis kit stuffed in attic for less cash than the price of the thomann one. Can't split them though.
