Airport Express can't connect to the network ... sort of.

    Any help appreciated.

I'm moving the computer and want to leave the printer where it is, so I dug out the Airport Express to connect the printer to the (Airport Extreme) network. The printer had been directly connected to the computer.

(This bit may or may not be important) While trying to set up the express to join the network I accidentally set it to create a new network and for some reason the Extreme base station went on the blink. So for a few days I connected to the internet using the express.

So the extreme suddenly shows up on the Airport list, I reconnect it to the modem and Happy Days. So I set up the express (after resetting it) to join the network. I get all the right signals until Airport Utility tries to restart the express. It won't restart and tells me to try again. I've tried 4 times. Switched everything off and back on again. Reset both the Extreme and the Express, and still it won't restart.

Anyone got any advice? It's a laser printer, I don't want to have to carry it around the house every time I want to print something. Thanks

The Express may still be in a heap after the confusion, try a factory default reset:

With the power off, hold the reset button in as you power up (with the Express, it might be easier to turn on the switch on your socket, if it is switched).
Hold the reset until the light flashes quickly (about 5 secs), then release the reset button.
