I'm going away for a week and want to go with a light [fake] tan. i don't plan on tanning while away!

Should i get a spray tan [is it possible to get light, not orange, ones tho??] or go with the johnsons/loreal developing tan route. My only concern about that is will it wash off immediatly when i land and shower and go to the pool or will i have to keep reapplying etc. Same goes for the spray tan actually.

I'm proper irish white so im terrified of being orange!!

i also hate the way things like johnsons flake off when youre trying to get rid of em.. any tips guys? :)

Id go for a spray one over a DIY one to be honest. If its done properly and by a professional it shouldnt turn out orange as they will know to go lightly on you. the spray should fade evenly unlike lotions, but it should last about a week. Get it done a day or two before you go and just put off having a shower for as long as you can do it absorbs into your skin and develops

Id avoid Johnsons...I think its pure muck :P

go for a spray tan, it will last up to a week, just make sure to moisturise after every shower to maintain it
Or i find st tropez mousse good too

totally agree, get a spray one. I get the Californian tan booth every week, cause once ya shower and take care of it, thecolour will last and wont be patch!! nothin worse than feeling so white on the beach!

A spray tan will not last a full week at all if your showering every day and in and out of the pool, 2 or 3 days max.
No bottle tan will last a full week unless you top it up or dont wash, annoying but true

I got my spray tan done last year before my hols and it was a disaster once I got into pool or sea - my feet were white and my legs were brown - I wouldn't do it again. Spent a few hours scrubbing my legs in shower on that holiday!

OP I have had spray tan done in the Buff Day Spa in Dublin a number of times before going on holiday. I get it done in the evening, leave it on overnight and shower off the following morning - the excess washes off and the underlying colour is very good. I have found that it lasts me at least five days into the holiday, and wears off well - and I love swimming in the sea for long durations - if you use lots of moisturiser every day it definitely helps.
You can get them to do light/medium or dark tan. I am in no way affiliated with them, but having used them over 10 times have always found their tan great and same for friends who have gone there.
    Enjoy the holiday!

I always get a spray tan before a holiday. It will last longer than a DIY tan but not a full week. You'll need to do a top up. If you get the spray then use a gradual one each day you should be ok.

Has this happened to anyone else? Where did you get your tan done?

I'm thinking of heading into naturelle to get it done but I'm scared now. Would rather be pasty and white than have a disaster like that.

well the more you wash the faster the spray tan comes off. which is why they tell you to wash gently without scrubbing and pat yourself dry and use loads of moisturiser to keep the tan longer. chlorine is like bleach i'm pretty sure it will do to your spray tan same thing it will do to your hair colour - wash it off pretty quickly. So unless you'll be staying out of the water on your holidays i probably would say don't get a spray tan. maybe a couple sun bed sessions instead?.

god no, i wouldnt do them. i dont tan naturally anyway. Itll have to be fake for me. was planning on using johnsons tanning moisturiser and then sticking on sally at night maybe if i dont get a spray one

ye that'd be good cos sally washes off the next day anyway.
but if you are not planning on swimming much then spray tan will look great and no need to worry about streaks and reapplication
    dilemma eh ha ha

I had a spray tan last summer before going on hols, I actually got it twice the week before I went, the girl in the salon said it would last much longer but after one dip in the pool it had faded and but day 2/3 I was putting on tan again myself! Really wasnt worth getting the spray tan at all, it was nice for a day or two but if I did the tan myself to begin with it would have been just as nice! I think the Dove tan moisturiser is really nice and it dosent go blotchy when it wears off if your looking for a bit of a glow when your away!:p
