Im going to be fighting on Sunday, its just a bit of practice off the card against a lad from another club but im going to be taking it like I would take any fight cause it's all experience.
I was just wondering when I should ease up on training, I did a full session tonight, will do a weight circuit tomorrow and will do another full session on thursday. I could also train on friday and saturday, whats the ideal, what would you do?

    Thanks

TBH nothing you can do now is gonna make you any fitter.........all your work is obviously done.........just get into the right frame of mind now........believe in yourself........"your fit, your training is done nothing more you do now".............but a bit quick reaction work is good before a fight........depending on what time the fight is on sunday try and get some good rest in the night before and during the day of the fight........I use to have a cold shower before heading off to a fight helps get out of the sleepy mood if ya been resting.

The main thing getting into the ring is be confident in your own ability.........but never be over confident.........no matter how bad you may have heard your guy is never go in to the ring thinking you will just blast him away.......thats how mistakes are made.

By quick reactions work......there is little things you can do..........make sure you do a nice warm up........good stretch......even longer than usual......and then things like:

Tennis Ball 1 - you hold 2 hands out and together.....get someone to hold a tennis ball under them.......when they say "drop" you must catch it before it hits the ground.
Tennis Ball 2 - just get the ball and keep bouncing it on the ground while your walking around.....try get faster & faster
10metre sprints - Your jumping in the air (backwards/frontwards/sitting down...loads ya can do).......someone shouts "go" quick sprint to the 10 metre line.
Few rounds on a speed ball, floor 2 ceiling ball.........nice and easy but fast.....no strenious stuff.

Best of luck hope it goes well.

Thanks for that MBC, the cold shower thing sounds like a good idea as well, I usually feel tired and drained on fight day because the nerves on the day take it out of ye but that could do the trick

I suggest a pre fight meal of Porridge with honey.
I'v had it before a gym session of weights circuit and 15 rounds on the heavy bag the other night and I still felt strong energy levels. Porridge if you cook it thoroughly and don't eat it dry is very easily digested.
N I ate mine only one hour before the gym session. I reckon your body is well able to deal with a meal whithin one hour.
Have a small amount o protein as well like one or two slices of lean ham. I had that too. Then glass o juice as well for extra energy without much weight.
I found cranberry juice settles in the stomach quickly.

15 rounds on the bag is good going, I go with the porridge myself made on milk but I sweeten it up with a scoop of synta 6 cookies and cream. It's really sweet after the one scoup and your getting in the protein aswell. As ye said though it does the job before a session, ye don't really have to give it time to settle at all.
Where a fight is later on in the day (say 6) would you just go for the porridge before as well?

I had that session late in the evening so I think it's fine to have porridge in the evening.
Like certain foods I find don't settle perfect for me. Apples, coarse veg, heavy spuds, don't settle in like porridge does. N heavy meats don't. That's why light sliced meat like ham might be better or Turkey.

The punch bag workout at this stage I'm thinking I just have a gra for it. It might be psychological but of any workout in the gym I feel I could wail away on the bag all night. The weights circuit had not really worked up too much of a sweat. It was only 20lbs done for various pressups/squats/pullups to shoulder for four sets of 8 reps. It was kinda the routine Randy Coutoure does on youtube (check it out looks alright).
Then I intended to do eight rounds to get a sweat up n hit the sauna. Then I just got competitive with myself n said I'd go for 12. I had recently watched Duran do 15 rounds on youtube, so I said I'd go for 15 when I got to 12 mark. Round 6 I tried to destroy my stamina by just hitting about five shots a second (roughly) for 60 seconds. But even that I tried to mix up to make it harder. I threw every 7th punch as a hook to the head with left or right. Then straight outa those 60 seconds into defensive left jabs n circling the bag.
Then Rounds 7, 8, 9, 10 I would do that again or maybe hard double jab and hard straight right non stop. Or hard left/right/left non stop. Always straight into circling the bag after with left jabs. There was an odd round I gave myself a breather by throwing mainly hard defensive jabs/straight rights n concentrating more on circling and bobbing but I would have maybe seven good combos in those rounds as well.
Now here is the mad thing. I checked my bodyfat n it's not all that low. But my weight has gone from 13 stone 5 lbs to 12 stone 11lbs. If I can get another few sessions in in the next two weeks I should lean up a bit.

Actually writing this has just motivated me to stick on a few tunes n shadow box with the gloves on (n I better put that wash on).
Another thing I did as well was switch to Southpaw as my left hand was getting numb from throwing most o the shots. N I figured it was better for body symmetry and development of muscles. N not a bad skill to have.
