On this thread you can both vote for one of the above, and make a nomination for the subsequent Album of the Week.

    - A nomination will not be accepted again for a subsequent three months.
    - You don't have to ask whether it's ok to nominate a particular album - once it's alt/indie, doesn't matter how old/obscure it is.

Voted for Oasis even The Cure are one of my favourite bands.Definitly Maybe was my youth on a CD so hence it gets it.

Can I nominate Beirut - The Flying Club Cup?

Oasis will surely win so I stuck down the Cure.

You should put some heavy hitting albums in the vote all at once instead of Oasis vs Blur vs Delorentos vs Patrick Wolf (WTF?)

Try Definitely Maybe Vs Nevermind Vs Is This It Vs Funeral etc

Voted for Modern Life Is Rubbish, nominating The House Of Love (I think its called Fontana, I've never been sure, it's opening track is Hannah, and Beatles and the Stones is also there).

    /shrug

I just put what people nominate to the vote, I can't just pick albums that suit a particular pattern.

Ooh, nice one. It's just called The House of Love (as is their debut album also...)

Has to be Sigur Ros for me, (vridar, wow) although some great albums nominated. I nominate "The Boatman's Call" by Nick Cave.

I feel dirty voting for Oasis and not Sigur Ros, but Idon't own Ágætis Byrjun and as I type this I just realise that champagne supernova isn't on Definitely Maybe...

    So D'oh!

    Just checked results - yeaaayyyyyy!

Nominate The Beach Boys: Pet Sounds. Don't think it's won yet...

+1 but really hate this tag britpop. very elitist i think and left out a lot of good bands who were not as well known. But Pulp's Different Class definitely one of the standout albums of that particular era.

Ok, it's been a lot longer than a week - simply because it was a tie-break once the week was up. So I re-opened the poll and let it go to sudden death. Whenever I had time to do the new album of the week thingie, it was still a tie-break; whenever I didn't, it wasn't. This is the moment: Oasis have won.
The Beach Boys and De La Soul are not alternative/indie so won't be included in the next lot of nominations.
