    Hi All,

Just a quick (and as newbie as can be) question, how often should you have to pump up your tires? I have a road bike and find that the rear tire is getting soft-ish after a few days on it. Is this normal?

yeah, should check your tyres before every ride, might need to pump them once or twice a week, depending.

I pump my wheels to 110-120psi before almost every ride. You'll loose a bit of pressure on each ride. There's a recommended pressure on the side of your tyre.

Do you have a pressure guage on your pump by any chance? Do you know what pressure you pump up to and what it's reduced by?

Would pump them before every spin. Mind you, I have latex tubes, so you need to. Even with butyl tubes I'd still do it at least twice a week.

That sounds about right. Note that the higher the pressure the quicker it loses it, so while you might have to do your road bike once or twice a week a bike with wider tyres would need pumping up far less. Still a good idea to check regularly though.

You may have a slow puncture though.

I have a tube at home that when pumped up takes about a week to go flat! I could never find the slow puncture, even when I submerged it in water and looked for bubbles.

I use it as a spare tube on cycles however because I am too cheap to buy a new one! It lasts long enough to get me home.

So if you have a spare tube try putting that in your rear tyre and see if it goes down after a few cycles.
However, it is normal enough for pressure to reduce as you cycle. It shouldn't be very significant though. Check the pressure before each cycle, or at least twice a week.

That seems high, I've dropped to 105 at the back and 100 at the front, no punctures yet, but am I too low weighing in at a hefty 80kg? (but it's coming down)

110-120 is on the high side but not outside the ballpark, I run 110 back 100 front and I am 76kg, I was 82.5kg at Christmas though and ran the same pressure.
