    Hey guys,

My boyfriend's NCO's passing out parade is this weekend and he has said that its a fairly dressy affair?? I have a dress and all got for it but having read some post on other sites it appears that people don't really get done up for it! Its in a nice hotel afterwards and all and he's wearing a suit....just need some advice so I don't look like a complete idiot done up to the nines lol....

I know this is prob a bit off topic for ye, but I thought if anyone knew, ye would! :D

    Cheers ;)

something similar to what you'd wear to the races i'd imagine, nothing like a debs dress or anything though.

    he's wearing a suit

For a passing out? I would have expected Service Dress #1s...

Whatever you'd wear in an office would be quite appropriate.

At his passing out your going to see a collect of everything from lads in tracksuits & uniform from his home unit, to other lads Mam's, Dad's, brother & sisters dressed in an assortment of attire.

For you I'd say either a dress, but no frills like a hat or gloves and for afterwards either the same or smart/casual, either way its his day to be proud & your day to be proud of him - I'm sure you won't let him down either way.

i would say a somethin smart/casual for the actual parade and passing out and a dress for the night at the hotel when the meal and drinks are happening..

its what my girlfriend said she'd do so maybe that..

ill ask her more if ya want lol

Oh Im in a mess over this whole thing now, I thought I just wore the dress for the whole day.....like a wedding type day or whatever?! I have nothing really smart casual that I can wear and don't have time to get anything now :( My dress is pretty dressy - races / wedding style ... I have no extras like head wear or anything and could wear a coat I suppose?

Grrrrrrr I'll kill him if Im dressed stupid.... well I won't really but I'll feel like an egit! Just don't wanna be thinking about me, its his day!

the dress sounds fine for it i wouldnt worry too much about it, more than likely its gonna be cold anyway so you will need a coat so i wouldnt worry about having the dress on at the parade which wont last too long anyway then your ready for the hotel already.. good times

    hope all goes well

I think office wear or Sunday best.

Lads, be careful when ye say "dress" to a woman. :)
