New Laptop Screen

Hey guys, just cracked my laptop screen useless now can only see about 6 inches on the left side.

It's a Dell XPS M1530, anyone have an idea how much it would cost, or even could I get Dell to attach a new laptop screen?

It has a HDMI output so I'll keep it anyway and buy a HD tv and use it as a desktop, but if its costly to get a new screen I may as well be a laptop for normal use as well.

    Thanks.

    €370 approx

but it might just be small fault rather than the whole screen

If it's cracked it will need to be replaced. A number of different screens go into the m1530 so the price can vary. €370 seems a bit extreme. Plenty of places will do it for alot less.

Try google, all laptop repair places will beat Dell prices.

IF your up for it you could replace it yourself and get the part from ebay.

370 is a crazy price alright, buying the screen on ebay and doing the install yourself is probably the cheapest option, and relatively simple. It does involve taking apart the laptop though.

Cheers lads, if it is the price mentioned above I'd rather just be another for that price and hook the XPS up to a tv via HDMI or something.

Had a quick look on ebay didnt see any screens selling I'll delve further.

    Quick Search found the following

Would have to replace it yourself, or bring to an IT crowd to swap out, which would add more cost. Also try www.LCDeuro.com, see them advertised up on the boards banner the odd time, might be worth a shot.

Yep, found one in the States, just waiting for my credit card to come (lost it!) and I'll sort it out.

    Thanks for all the help.
