Hi guys, im considering getting the Sg5 but when i looked at the courses they have on it for the lenister area it dosent really appeal to me. like mount juliet kilkenny is not on it and woodenbridge is not and the k club is not, all courses il be playing in the next few weeks. it says you can request a course but does anyone kno how long it would take for them to get it mapped and up on the site. Also can you map/edit your own points on the golf courses with the Sg5.Was looking at the Sureshot and they have every course you can think of but Sg5 looks tidier. Please help.

Woodenbridge is actually on it. Sometimes the search returns funny. There are even some Irish courses flagged as in the UK! I requested a few courses before I purchased and was amazed they were up within 10 days. How they managed to get permission and then walk the course in that time I don't know, but it was done. I requested The European Club, but was told back that the club refused permission. I just filled out the form on the web site and a guy from the UK got back to me, very helpful. Just submit for each course you want (and is not on the site) and wait for feedback

or you can map it yourself all you have to do is record the front middle and back of each green, thus giving you an exact distance from the tee and so on

I have one of these and like. You can request new courses to be added but don't know how long it takes. Both my local courses are mapped so happy days! You can also add two courses yourself manually.

Reading about the skycaddie it boasts that they ground verify the courses in order to ensure accuracy. Has anyone ever seen these guys doing this on your course? Are these any more accurate than any other Gps unit?
Anyone ever done any tests with the skycaddie or any other gps with a laser or course markers? In my own experience I have found on occasion that gb tour to be out by up to 12 yards.

Our pro mentioned that the Skycaddie guys have been to our course a couple of times. I use a Bushnell rangefinder as well, they both return pretty much same readings. Often check if Skycaddie reading looks way off, but it's always me that's wrong!

I had the SG5 on trial and found it very helpful but I have since bought a Caddy Lite. It is as good as it gets for small money. Over 30,000 courses and if it dosent have the one you want, a quick email and it will be mapped within two weeks. A £20 annual membership applies and the unit holds 10 courses at a time. I've used it all over Ireland and europe and cant find fault with it. Check it out yourself, www.golf-plus.co.uk

    What model you got?
I like the way the mapping for the green changes depending on the angle you approach from on the sgx and sgxw. Not sure if other brands/models have this function.

    SG5

TBH, front middle and back of green are 95% of what I use it for. If I was getting another now, I'd get one I didn't have to manually load the courses on to. This is probably the one I'd go for

    http://www.bushnellgolf.com/gps/yardage_neo_plus.cfm

25,000 courses preloaded and no annual fees. Reasonably priced too.

I have a skycaddie and have the K-Club saved in my favourites. Some courses are tricky find, like Palmerstown is under PGA National
