Bank Statement from AIB €2.50 per page. So, a 12-page statement will cost me €30. Must be handwritten on aincent leopardskin parchment, edged with gold leaf.

Is there anything you can do? Can you call them on it? Im sure if you told them you were taking your business elsewhere they'd accomodate you

Ah, you mean a duplicate bank statement because you misplaced the free one they sent you. Don't see the rip off tbh. It's all part of a service.;)

Doesn't matter if it's the tenth copy. 2.50 for an A4 page is overcharging. Well, it is a bank we are talking about.

I have to organise duplicates when the various people I work for lose the originals. Bearing in mind the cost, I try to be as specific as possible, so that my clients don't have to pay for bank statements that they've already got.

On every single occasion, be it AIB or BOI, they always send out more than they're asked for, and charge accordingly.

    It all adds up:mad:

I have found out this morning that if I'm applying to my bank for a mortgage I have to pay to get the statement printed and sent to me, then I have to hand it straight back to them.

seen this before, argue your case for reduced rate and they usually give in.

€2.50 per page for a computer print out is a rip off.

Have they had to sell all of their monitors on Ebay to improve cashflow?

    That's obscene!

Don't forget, that's all the thanks you get as a tax payer for bailing them out.

Do you really have to go with this bank?

    Can you choose another?

I'd kick up a huge fuss & demand that they just print it out there & then.

No reason why they couldn't do that for you other than being plain greedy.

I hate Banks. Screwed us for years, we bail them out & they still want to screw us!

Beat them at their own game.

Make a request under the data protection act for all info they have on you.

I got back a wheel barrow load of stuff but only cost me a few quid.

tell them that you'll pay it, when you get the thousands of € of your taxes that has been used to bail them out

Not 100% sure about AIB but I know for a fact that BOI allow you to view 12 months of statements for free on-line and you can print them, these are also accepted for mortgage applications I know because this is what I did :pac:

They sent your free statements already so why should they send further one's for free because you misplaced the first lot, :)

AIB tried this on me years ago. I needed about two pages, and they sent me about 25 and tried to charge for them all. That resulted in some cross words to say the least.

Who was it that accepted printed online statements? Just wondering as a broker told me that they would not be acceptable.

I wasn't that I was expecting for them for free, just not €2.50 per A4 page.

Assuming they're copying/printing at the market rates it should be no more than 15c / page. The 'cost' of the database lookup to make the printout is negligible. Then let's say total 50c extra for postage. So a 4-page statement should be no more than 1.20.

They charge these high prices to discourage people from ordering statements, as it allows them to keep the minimum of staff doing this work (statement printing is centralised).

You should be able to print them from the net and get them stamped by the bank.
