After attending an introductory class in krav maga ive decided it isnt for me it seems my niche is in striking arts, Ive been told kickboxing could be a good way to go, but kempo looks good. I live in rathfarnham and work in black rock, anybody know any kickboxing or kempo dojos near either?! help appreciated!:)

www.crxkenpo.ie is based in St Benildus college in Kilmacud. I think there is also Kickboxing but I don't have any info on that.

If you think, or have been told, that you have a niche for striking you might wanna give muay thai a look. It is pure, no bull****, striking. Doesn't get more raw in my opinion.

Have you considered Muay Thai.....theres a few good clubs in Dublin. Check out some footage online and see if you like the look of it.

Hey emwolb, if it's striking arts you want don't overlook Shotokan or Wado-Ryu.

There are two good Shotokan clubs in Rathfarnham / Rathgar / Ranelagh area that I know of:

    http://www.tandenshotokan.com/

    http://www.thejks.com/Ireland/clubs.asp

There's also a good Wado Ryu club in Blackrock:

    http://homepage.eircom.net/~nmalone/home.htm

I suggest checking them out and seeing if they float your boat.

    Regards,

You could do both Kenpo and Kickboxing in Kilmacud. They train on different days in the same hall, but you would need to ask in the center about the Kickboxing.

    Hey,

Just throwing another option out there for you...Taekwon-do club in Terenure, probably close enough location wise too for you.

Training is Mon & Thurs at 8pm. Small enough crew but good sparring done, very relaxed atmosphere re traditions etc, but one of the best workouts around also. check out www.inta.ie under clubs for contact details. The instructor has been on the Irish team most years (coached it last year) and usually wins the Irish nationals if he enters it! He's also done boxing for years so runs the club along that style a little rather than the more traditional type clubs...so may suit you...Worth giving as many as you can a shot first, before making up your mind..
