Insurance - switching car short term

Quick question ( insurer closed now - so can't ring them)

Anyone know if it costs to switch cars on your policy?

My own needs repairing after the water pump failed today and considering the state of the road afterwards looks like the coolent tank melted!

I can get a lend of a 1L corsa off my best friend

trying to work out if it would be cheaper, quicker and more hassel free to take out a seperate policy on that car and cancel it within the 14 days

Would there be an admin fee if I cancel the policy within 14 days?

I can have the car insured and on the road before 12 tomorrow if I take out a seperate policy

On top of things - next week I've a round trip of over 500 miles to collect something in Donegal

Don't trust my own car for such a long journey

    Thanx for any advice

Would your friend mind you driving the car third party? If not, then your policy might cover you on it as it is. Alternatively, can s/he add you as a named driver temporarily?

that'll be the first thing I'll ask axa tomorrow morning - really hope i can add it to mine with no complications

thing is - the car is a hand down from her older sister - and even though its now in her name she can't actually drive and has no insurance so it - so second option is out

One thing that might help and make things go smoother if i take out a new policy is we've the same surname - won't look as dodgy

If i crashed it I'd get her another car - I've a small nest egg for crap like that
