I was in Romania in April and its a great place to go. We were staying with Romanian friends in Oradea, and generally didn't go too far from there (except to visit the bear caves). I've heard Brasov is well worth a visit, and its probably not worth sticking around Bucharest for too long. We actually flew to Budapest as it was closer to Oradea.

You should definitely try some traditional Romanian food. Food and drink is very cheap. Not sure about hotels though.

Spent a week in Romania in early April. Stayed in Zarnesti, near Brasov, because I was going to see wildlife. Brasov is lovely. I was only there for a day, but it was a really pleasant place to wander around, see some sights, and relax.

It's cheap as chips in comparison to Ireland, and the public transport is quite good.

They have a nice langauge and if you can speak a little bit of French you'll probably be able to get used to some of the common phrases.

I was only there once so I don't know that much, but if you want anymore info, just ask!
