    about to buy hiking footwear,
not sure whether to buy hiking boots or shoes?
are hiking shoes supportive enough for terrain like the burren?
last time i went up there i had regular flat shoes on and my ankles/calves were in a little pain after.

anyway, would I be wasting my time buying shoes, or are boots what I need?

    any advice appreciated:)

Your always better off with boats when compared to shoes imho
Much better support for your ankles and generally more comfortable

In my opinion its better to buy boots cause then you will have them if you ever decide to do any other type of hill walking where as buying boots could limit you more! hope this is a help!
