I recently purchased a '04 Mondeo diesel.50,000 miles on the clock, full service history and drives really well.
Problem is a squeeking noise coming from rear wheels area. When i press the brakes it goes away.If i take my foot off the brake pedal it comes back.
This noise can get very loud sometimes or could also dissappear for days on end.
I had the brake pads checked and am told they are perfect.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

None on the back. Get a second opinion on the brakes OP, and GET THE PERSON LOOKING AT THEM TO REMOVE THE WHEEL AND INSPECT THE INNER AND OUTER PAD...

Would that be a brake pad as you say, or do you mean brake shoe? (semi circled metal plate) thanks.

As far as I know, that make & model has discs on the back... Have a look and come back and tell me which it is, if you can't see a brake disc on the back when it must have drums & shoes...
