    hi folks

does anyone have any tips about sourcing flowers ourselves to make up our own bouquets, buttonholes, and church if necessary?!

Or can anyone give me a realistic figure on what we would anticipate paying if we went down the florist route? (scared to ask!!) ... dont know how much to factor into the budget for this - the hotel are supplying flowers for the reception so we dont need to worry about that!

    Many thanks everyone!

    sunny:)

One suggestion would be to talk to the priest in the church about who does the flowers in the church. Normally (well in most cases) it is a local person.
We did this and the price we got was about half that of a local florist. Around €600 is what we are spending.

But also depends on the amount you are looking for. Try asking friends and family of they know people who do flowers, you might get someone that way.

Doing the flowers yourself is a good idea but you have to also think of the amount of time you will actually have the week before the wedding to do all of this.

    Hi Sunnygirl,

If you're in Dublin I can recommend Lisa from stems.ie. She's based in The Swan Centre in Rathmines and did the flowers for my wedding last year. She did the following for around €350 (can't remember the exact price).

My bouquet, 3 bridesmaids, 2 flowergirls, 2 mothers bouquets, 9 button holes, 3 coursages.

She also threw in a bouquet for me to throw. She was lovely to deal with and did exactly what I wanted.

    Regards,;)

Got mine from the Church florist for under €400, included
2 bouquets, 2 flowergirl baskets, corsages for MOB / MOG, and button holes for about 15 too. Also had 2 arrangements for the back alter, and a simple arrangement for the alter to include our candles.
I also had 2 small window boxes with candles and a few bows for the end of the seats, I think there were 14, she put them on every 2nd seat. And also some flowers for the top of the cake.

Hope this gives you a rough idea of what prices you can expect. It also depends a lot on what flowers you are getting, and how fancy you want to be, or how many displays you want. My bouquets were white roses, and the same with freesia in the BM's bouquet. The church flowers were mainly lillies and carnations.

try the large markets in Holland - flowers4florists.com (I think). They have a minimum delivery (I think it's 175 Euros) but from what I've heard, they're nice to deal with and very cheap. And they do deliver to Ireland.

I haven't dealt with them myself, but a friend has, and she's very happy.

If you're willing to make the flowers yourself, this is probably the cheapest option available.
(comparison - I'm getting 2 bridal bouquets, 2 bouquets for the bridesmaids, 5 button holes, church decoration and altar piece for 200 Euros. in Germany.)
