Johnny Pilkington was a heavy smoker throughout his inter-county career - John Troy also smoked a bit but after that, im not sure but I would doubt many would seeing as the fitness aspect of the game has grown in importance so much over the past decade

In the 1930's it was customary to smoke because you were seen as a man if you did.

I'm sure many players smoke but Davy Fitzgerald's voice would lead you to think it wasn't cigarettes he was smoking :pac:

I know of at least one intercounty and international rules player who smokes. So I'm sure there are a few.

I understand that smoking is forbidden at Man Utd. If there are athletes smoking then they must be completely stupid. Even the most committed smoker would accept smoking damages their lungs.

    Berbatov is a 20 a day man.

I know a few of the Dublin football team that smoke. I even saw one of the lads smoking on the way to Dublin training two weeks ago!

I'm pretty sure one of our high profile rugby players is a solid smoker. Didn't know about Richie Dunne, but in a way it makes sense. Now Duffer I'd have as a nailed on certainty just from looking at him after a mazy little run!

Whats that? This is the GAA forum? Woops....:)

I have seen a few smoke. So what. I know 2 who smoke if they are out socialising but I would'nt call them smokers. If the have a beer they have a smoke. 1 of them might have 2 beers and a few cigs maybe once a month and the other would smoke if he was on hols and then just puts them away till next year We are becoming to politically correct.

BOD is a heavy smoker, I presume thats who you're talking about?

Johnny Pilkington gave up the smokes when he retired.

John Troy smoked 4 B&H in the dugout during the 2000 All Ireland hurling final before coming on in the second half.

Shur what the hell about it if they do?
