Bedding the brakes?

I've noticed a lot of screeching from brakes lately when out driving, maybe because I have the window down or whatever. And no, not because of my driving :p It's not the sound of worn pads but the sound of new brakes not bedded properly (at least that what I think).

Do many people bed their brakes after having the pads/discs changed?
    Do you?

Its probably the dust from the pads, copper grease on the back of the pads stops this... Is it a while since you got new pads?

I changed all pads and discs and have been driving on them just over a week.
Did put copper ease on but still get the squeal on occasion.

Will go out to bed them later today if it stops raining.

@Sleepy: It involves a series on near stops to deposit an even layer of brake pad material on the rubbing surface of the disc.

excuse my ignorance but what does the copper grease do? ( and dont say stop the squeeling)

where do you apply the grease

Copper grease is used in areas where high temps are likely to occur

ok but you hardly put it on the side of the pad that touches the disc

No on the back of the pad tha sits on the brake caliper

Copper grease also helps with friction, so without it applied to the backs

of the new pads it could cause some noise.

It does not deposit any material on the discs, it wears down high spots on pads and discs which are left after the manufacturing process it also heat cycles the pads and discs but incorrect bedding in can over heat the pad material compromising the effectiveness of the brakes. The only way to bed in brakes is to follow manufacturers advice as the bedding in process will vary depending on pad material etc.
