Hard wearing tyres

I only put two new tyres on my car (50 euros each) a few months ago. The tread is nearly gone already! I expected them to last a bit longer to be honest.

I do travel about 300-350 miles a week though and am a fast driver.

I want a tyre that is hardwearing and reliable that doesn't cost a small fortune.

    Any suggestions,
    X

    There is something wrong!

I have Goodyear eagles (one of the softest quickest wearing tyres) on my car. I have done about 7-8k miles on them so far and no obvious wear.

What car do youy drive and what tyres did you out on, Make Size and Load ratings (i.e. 92H). You might have put a tyre that would be under the load and probably speed rating for your car / style of driving.

driving fast does wear down the tyres quicker and going a bit fast around corners is relly bad too

    the limit is 1.6mm

when exactly did you put the tyres on?
at 350 miles per week, you could be looking at 6 month intervals for tyre changing.

Splash out on tyres, dont skimp, get the hardest wearing compound, and the higest speed rating you car afford.

My £150 each Pirellis, have lasted me 6,000 miles :(

    Pirellis just burn away!

True, but for my wheels 215/45/18 its between them and bridgestones, and the bridgestones are rarer than rocking horse ****e!

OP has the tread on the tyres worn evenly or it the outside or inside of the tyres that have worn? I assume the tracking, wheel alignement and tyre pressure have been checked? Might also depend on your driving style/habbits.

350 miles per week is roughly just over 18,000 miles per year which is hardly huge mileage so you should be getting at least 12 months out of a set of tyres.

Really need more information like tyre make and what car are they on.

I drive a really really powerful Toyota Avensis 1.6 VVTI :P

In answer to some of the questions, both front tyres in my opinion need to be changed again. They seem to be quite bald in the middle of the tyre where its almost smooth to touch. I got the rear tyreschanged at the same time. They are still fine but since its front wheel drive and the most weight is on the front I'd expect these to wear quicker. Perhaps they are just over inflated?

Hm.. I got them done probably Jan/Feb time for my overdue NCT :D I do drive hard and brake fast so my driving style does contribute quite a bit I'd say. But the first pair that were on it when I got the car lasted well over 12 months and I would think I'm a little more passive in my driving now.

Could be just ****ty tyres. I got them in Fast Fit. They aren't a well known brand. I think Stunner or somethig like that.

Hard cornering and under inflated tyres, create more wear on the outside, if the middle is balding first, I would think that your tyres are maybe overinflated and most of your wear is from straight line braking (and possible wheelspin acceleration)

Is the wear even on both sides?

and do you rotate your tyres OP>?

There are 3 sizes listed for your car, 195/60R15 rated 88H, 19565R15 rated 88H and 20555R16 rated 91V. I would guess that you have the 20555R16 but there is a lower speed and load rating. They should all be at 32psi front and rear (under normal load) the laden psi would be different for each size, front and rear. The V rating should be ok as this will cover you up to 149mph, even the H rating is good for 131mph.

As pointed out above, your probably over inflated the tyres and this is why you have the worn down so quickley. Stick tot he load and speed rating I have given you and you should be ok. But please get decent tyres...not only will these last longer, but they will give you a better chance of staying on the roads in poor conditions.
