Waited the last two days to go to the Physio in college. Rang up in the morning to find out that the Health Unit wont see undergrad students in the Summer months. They're open alright, they just won't see students. :(

Going to have to cash out for some other Physio in town who has no history file on me - great.

Ya its crazy! Your student card is valid until the end of august regardless of weather or not you're attending NUIG in september. This would suggest that you are entitled to use the vacillates during the summer months. Its understandable that they would want ease the pressure on the health unit, but how many students would actually use it during the summer?
Bottom line is, you can still get any set menu footlong in subway for €4.95 but not free healthcare!

The college offers free physio to students ??

I'm currently looking at paying for a private one as we speak.

No it's €25... much cheaper that you'd get in town I assume. - will confirm tomorrow!

Ask for a copy of the file and bring it with you to the replacement physio. It's not ideal but it's better than nothing.

I don't know if it was the female physio you saw (can't remember her name) but she works in private practice also. I'm sure the Health Unit can give you her details and she might agree a student rate for you? She's very approachable and good at her job.

    From their site:

Student Health Services - Summer Service:

During the summer months a reduced service is available. Summer service is intended for students whose courses are ongoing over the summer e.g. postgraduates, Phd and Masters students or special cases by prior arrangement - other students should see their own GP.

I hadn't realised this at all..tg I'm a postgrad...got physio myself there a few years back but remember it being at a reduced rate alright

Used to be €20 when I was there. You get treatment from Toolers is it? He has a clinic down near the Roisin Dubh if that's a help. Health unit can surely give you his details if you ask
