    Hi there,

I recently bought my first apartment and closed the sale 4 weeks ago and moved in this day three weeks ago!!

I guess you need to decide what kind of flooring you want, I went for wood in the living room, tiles in kitchen and bathroom and carpet in the hall &bedroom X2. I am sorry now though that I did not put wood in the hall.

As you are going to be living there yourself, you should pick what you really like, I don't believe in going cheap (to make do for the timebeing) and then upgrading, coz your wasting more money in the long run, go to your local Credit union and get a loan, I found them most helpful.

Furniture wise, I went to Talbot Furniture on the Dublin Road outside Athy, the guy there was most helpful and they really have nice stuff and lots of brochures to pick from.

I can also provide a phone number for someone to do blinds and put down wood flooring if you want and your property is around the dublin/kildare/wicklow area. Just PM me!!

Everything does not have to be done at once, just the main things, floors, blinds (curtains can come later) electrical appliances and furniture are the most important. I am still going around with no light shades and other bits and pieces that are starting to bother me now!!!

Best of luck and ENJOY it!! I know I did!!!

    Hi,

The best thing to do is getting your essentials before you move in like your bed, a sofa (if you can borrow one until you get your own all the better) and live in the space. You will slowly begin to see what you need.

There are no rules as to where to start when decorating a room, start with something you really love and go from there. I feel in love with this rug that I got for my living room and everything else fell into place from that, so if you love a fabric or painting, etc pic colours out of that and work from there.

Another thing to keep in mind is keep the expensive things neutral (e.g. sofa, dining table and chairs) and add to them with cheaper accessories that can be changed easily when you get bored of them.

I know a really good interior designer who is very reasonable and can give you great ideas without spending a fortune. If you want her details just PM me.

    Good luck.
