Playing my first open competition today

I am playing my first singles open competition today. I am looking for advice with regard to etiquette. Is there anything that I should know? I have played in a team competition and that went really well.

Just wondering whether there is anything different in singles competition.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for that.

Just one question with regard to the scorecard. It is a stableford competition and I am playing in a three ball. Do I just mark the scorecard as normal and then do the calculations with regard to points afterwards? Up until now my friends have always filled in the cards and worked out points scores.

It's a good habit to get into to make the points calculation every time you record the score on the card, it saves alot of time if you do it as you go, as opposed to doing the whole lot at the end of the round.

You should be marking the card of one of the other players in the group... you will exchange cards at the start. Just explain to them that you are a rookie and there will be no issue. Anyone should be glad to guide you along on the day with regard to scoring etc.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I played in the open in Donabate. The course was nice, a little wet and there were a few puddles.

I didn't score too well, 29 points playing off 14 with four scratches. Just happy to have played my first competition.
