Well these guys must certainly feel stupid now

    http://gizmodo.com/5312889/german-bargain-hunters-conned-into-buying-bag-of-potato-ipods
The con was simple (and old): A group of British con men showed the German bargain hunters a few iPods, laptops and other gear as "proof" of their authenticity; offered to sell them hundreds of second hand iPods at basement prices; and then proceeded to hand over a 4-lb. sack filled with potatoes instead.

Who would spend hundreds of euro without first inspecting the item, keeping hold of them and only then hand the money over.

youre dead right, but greed is a powerful emotion!

Either way, how would they not have at least looked in the bag to see? I tend to think of stuff like this as a sort of "idiot tax".

Does this mean that another group of tourist who were expecting a bag of potatoes got a load of ipods?
