Tracing IP addresses

    So I went to one of the IP tracing websites, and put in my own IP. It was wrong by about 70 miles, saying it was in Dublin (I'm from the midlands). Wtf?

    it just traces to where your internet connection is routed to. probably your nearest connection point. its not going to trace it to your address.

    and another thing. who the **** cares.

    They will usually tell where you ISP is, not you.

    Wtf use is it then?

    If someone hacks your gmail, you can get the ISP address but you can't do anything with it.
