Mcafee asking for verification alot

I have my laptop for about two years and I never had any issues with my Mcafee anti virus program. About a month ago it started to become more part of my life. At times the Mcafee window would pop and say, you are not protected, very much at random. I was always offered the option to click Fix now which sometimes worked or other times I would be asked to verify my subscription. I just hit the verify subscrition button and then I'd get Your computer is protected. Fine, happy days. But more and more often I have to go through this process and a couple of times the Fix thing or verify subscription didn't work so I just tryed to do a scan, no other options really and it would not mark any viruses or problems and just declare that my computer was safe again. I am annoyed that it is becoming more frequent and at times while doing the scan I am surfing the net unprotected. Anybody else had McAfee issues lately.

I has plagued with them a few years ago. I've no particular axe to grind with McAfee, but it's not a particulary good product, especially considering that you have to pay for it.

If I was to pay for an AV package, I'd go for Kaspersky AV. That said, Avast (free) and Zonealarm (free) as a firewall kept my PC virus free for close on 6 years.

The only reason I moved on is because ZoneAlarm doesn't run on 64-bit windows.

In short, unless you have a positive reason for staying with McAfee ("it came preinstalled on my Dell" isn't one) then, you should probably move to a better and cheaper option.
