My iPhone has decided that it no longer wants to accept ip adresses from my wifi router. The router assigns an address but the phone only gets a 169.254 address. I've told the phone to forget the network but the issue stays. Any ideas?

A mate of mine had something similar and spend ages talking to Apple regarding it. The solution they came up with was to simply Reset Network Settings. Worked for him. May as well give it a try.

try turning off wifi, turning on airplane mode, then turn back on wifi

I am assuming everything else on your wifi network is connecting without any problems. Also, it wont do any harm to give your wifi AP a reboot.

Unfortunately not. Router's grand, rebooted it, still giving out ip leases but the iPhone isn't picking them up

hmm strange, only other thing I can think of is try assigning yourself a static IP address, then switching back to DHCP....other than that I am out of ideas.

Same problem here, tried reset network settings, turn off wifi, soft reboot, hard reboot, forget network and constantly resetting any wireless router i come into contact with. I am perplexed!

what? I am aware that a 169.254 address is an apipa address. How does that help with this issue?

    Bah, I missed that post.

Somebody had a little too much to drink last night and left a considerable number of random/illogical posts for the moderators to clean up. :) This post is one of them.
