He sure is. Took a few nice scalps there and seems to have won it comfortably

    Bump to the top...

    This deserves some recognition :)

A great couple of weeks for Irish athletics - if only it was Europeans year - we'd be flying. Well roll on 2010.

    We should have
    Gillick,
    O'Rourke,
    Hession,
    Cragg,
    Chamney,
    Campbell

and hopefully a few others all performing well.

If we are talking of 2010 and Europeans I would throw in the Kilkenny girls O' Keeffe and Cuddihy too. O' Keeffe will be much stronger after a full winter and Cuddihy will hopefully fulfill her potential after a year down in Canberra.

Yeah, of course O'Keefe and Cuddihy - my bad for forgetting and of course if Mary Cullen is back to form next year.

I was just a little dissapointed at O'Keefe's University Games final throws - though she seemed unlucky to have only had three throws and just missed out on making the final cut.

Cuddihy seems to have had a tough time with Gillick's group but hopefully a good year of training behind her and she'll be back to 50 sec 400m form.

Really impressed with Ciara Mageen at the weekend too - great PB and seems to be able to handle the championships. Really looking forward to seeing what she can do at the European Youths.

I was just thinking about some other athletes I haven't heard about this year..what's happened
Mary Cullen - is she still injured?
    Ciara Sheehy - retired?
    Emily Maher - retired?
Karen Shinkins - she retired but then ran some good times last year?
Gareth Turnbull - never really fulfilled his potential?

    Any updates from regulars?

    Cheers,

    S

Ciara Sheehy retired a couple of years ago. Think injuries just got the better of her. Pity, really, I think she could've been the first Irish woman to break 23 seconds if she'd stayed healthy down the years, or at least come very close.

Karen Shinkins ran a 10k road race recently! Not sure about her sprinting, b ut it looked like she might become a good pacer at one stage, but hasn't done so yet this year.
