Hardest type of engineering?

Anyone got any ideas on what the hardest type of engineering would be to study in college? This has been a huge debate between my friends and I recently. In my opinion it would have to be electronic engineering, but the others say chemical or aeronautical. Any opinions?

How long is a piece of string?

Difficult is a relative term, It's like anything it depends what you have the head for. I just graduated with 1st in Electronic Eng. and most people are well impressed, but I can't say I found it incredibly hard, lot's of hours but sure all engineering courses are the same. If I had to do chemistry or something I'd be doing well to pass, nevermind something like business or law.

If you can't grasp certain concepts then you'll find it difficult. I knew Mech lads who never could figure out the electrical or software side of things and they only had to do it at an introductory level.

If you mean purely in terms of the actual level of course work, I'd say that all the engineering courses are fairly well matched but I know the Mechs had a lot of big assignments.

Personally I'd say Chemical or Pharmaceutical cause I could never get my head around any of that stuff, I'd say I would have managed at Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical.

Also did Electronic Engineering and had similar experiences with people
reacting as if it was similar to the cliché "Rocket Science" (which it isn't btw ;)).

If I hadn't have been interested in the area I would have found it
a lot harder I'm quite sure.

For me Electromagnetism was a mind **** and I cant see what subject
in other areas could top that....?

    None: engineering isn't hard.

its pretty much all down to interest and personal dedication. one would probably carry the other. I think youd need a decent coefficient in both to do really well but could learn anything with enough of one or the other

    result=I*Pd

    wait.. that looks familliar..

(incidentally, i did mech and some people fumbled through that without a whole lot of smarts.. so ill say not mech. oh or manufacturing)

i did aero eng and got through ok, but ask me what a transfromer is and i think of optimus prime.
Im still trying to figure out how many volts you get per meter i.e. i dont understand electrical eng at all

I think its all a matter of interest: if you like aircraft you'll do aero; electronic stuff - electronic eng; medicine - biomedical; buildings, bridges - civil; etc. I did mech becasue i had an interest in machines, cars, engines but also got a good general grounding in alot of other fields. If you like and enjoy something its alot easier to study and understand
