Emergency department staff needed for research study

    Hi all,

Thanks to the mods for allowing me post this! I'm working on my M. Sc. thesis at the moment, the subject of which is the experiences of Emergency department staff in dealing with self-harm presentations. I've just completed the first phase of the study which involved distributing questionnaires to ED staff all over Ireland to assess their attitudes to and knowledge of self-harm (I've since received over 100 back which is a fairly good response rate), and am now moving onto the second phase which involves interviews with a sample of ED staff to get their personal insights into these presentations and to validate the quantitative findings.

I'm wondering if anybody here would be interested in taking part in an interview? No individual or hospital would be identifiable at any stage and I am willing to travel so distance is not an option (although I'm based in Dublin). The only inclusion criteria is that you are a doctor or nurse who currently works or who recently spent a period of time in the ED, and that you are willing to chat about these presentations, how you/staff feel their care could be improved, assessment, referrals etc.

Anyone interested is welcome to PM me and I'l get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks so much and hopefully might hear from some of you soon!

    C.B

Did a school project on mental health and suicide in young people a few years ago, and had a para suicide nurse in to talk to us - try getting in contact with them for info, the woman we had was very informative about how she dealt with it from the emergency room setting
