I have a spare sky box and am trying to set it up in a spare room for FTA channels.

I have a spare cable from a quad lnb on dish into attic.

I have 5 or 6 cables spare coming into the attic from various tv points in rooms in the house.

I cannot figure out which one is coming from the room I'm trying to set it up in (all the cables are coming in from the same point in the attic).

The only thing I can think of is trying to connect each wire individually to the wire from dish and have herself in the room shouting up to me if there is any movement on the signal test screen on the sky box. We've tried it and retried to no avail...

Is it enough to hold each wire together for about 10 to 15 seconds or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

PS: Of course there is a possibility that the electrician messed up the wiring when the house was built.

you could use a multimeter (if you have one) or an easy way is connect a battery to the coax at the lnb

then go into the attic and using the ends of coax there connect a torch bulb.

when it lights you know you have the correct cable.
