Remember the Clontarf blindside who scored two tries in the AIL semi against Cork Con? As reported on here he went back to go play professionally in SA. Well for anyone that's interested, seems he's playing for the Griquas in the Currie Cup, played no.8 yesterday in their bonus point upset over the Cheetahs and scored the 1st try!
It was the visitors who would open the scoring when number eight Heinrich Stride caught the Cheetahs napping by taking a free kick quickly at the back of a scrum before breaking wide and sneaking over.

AFAIK He has played for the Griquas before he came to Clontarf.

Phenomenal player who no doubt will be missed, thankfully Clontarf have signed up Richie McCaw for next year so it wont be too bad....
Richie McCaw coming to Clontarf may or may not be true

Was Stride paid while at Clontarf?

 Brent Pope has never been open about his religion so your guess is as good as mine

Tarf have signed something like 15 new players for next season and have only had Stride and one of the wingers leave, a few Leinster Academy players, last seasons division two top try scorer and the AIB International outhalf from UCD have all signed up.

    Interesting season ahead...hopefully!

stride was a legend of a player

Killian Lett is a centre, the AIB international outhalf was Keeshan from Dolphin if i'm not mistaken. Yeah and you got Ben Barclay as well, US eagles prop from UCD. Who did UCD sign this year . . . . emmmm nobody!

While I sorta admire Clontarf's ambition, AIL clubs shouldn't be buying in players in the hope of buying-in success. The money would be better spent on their underage set-up.
