I posted on another site about my mortgage company and out of 3 replies, only 1 was nice. One asked me how long I was working for PR for the mortgage company and the other one said he did not believe I was going to college as I had spelt it wrong (I spelt it collage!)

Whats going on that people are so quick not to believe a person and others feel they have a right to comment on peoples spelling....whats that old saying if you have nothing nice to say - say nothing at all!

theres a lot of bitterness from people in regard to mortgage companies.... and banks, and over inflated shops......ah...pretty much just a lot of bitterness al around.

Essentially - almost anyone that stands up for an institution (ie. bank/mortgage company etc)....isnt supporting the "little guy" and is taking the side of a faceless corporation.... which is why they attack you.

I dont have a mortgage, I have loans/overdrafts coming out my ear - but my bank isnt coming after me just yet (I think)..... I do think that the banks are a shower of B@stards - for years they were posting profits of hundreds of millions then they claim they need a bail out - what happened to all their profits over the past 10-15-20-30years ?

Anyway - hope that helps explain that the "bad" responses you received were probably just angry/bitter people who dont understand that people can have good experiences with mortgage companies/banks etc .....

Dont get me started on management companies....another shower of ****s

thanks PCPHOTO, I don't post much and have only recently started looking at these sites again. I may be a soft fool but I was very hurt by the comments!

As for management companies a development in the town where I live the residents have set up a committee and are putting the agent through their paces...could be worth a try!

    PS: I just downloaded iespell!

dont worry - if you keep posting on boards you get used to the "insults" and throw a few back (sometimes)

think of it this way - some of these people are sitting in front of a computer and are unwilling to do anything else. (I know I used to spend a decent couple of hours a day on it - but mainly just reading the stuff)

nowadays I pop in and out - once or twice a day ...read a couple of pages (mainly news stories) .... and go back to my life.

dont take what people say on boards as gospel ...its not like they are face to face with you - comments are only words ... words dont hurt people..... people hurt people :P

    I always have an expression.

If you knew how to correct me you knew what i ment! additionally the only person that has the right to correct me is my parents and of course my teachers and neither are present on the net.

So really just live in the knowledge that if all the have to say is correct you well then thats prob the sum of there contrabutions and if so why do you care!

I recently did a computer course and the lads on the course used to spend the day on forums just picking on people and slagging them off just trying to get a reaction. I can see how this would be very hurtful if you happened to be the target of this abuse. The truth is that most people doing this on forums are doing this for the very reason of trying to upset others. People just like to upset others, who knows why?
If you get replies to something that you posted that are abusive personally (for instance ridiculing spelling etc) then you can pretty much just dismiss this as someone trying to wind you up/upset you and ignore it. If you find it hard to ignore this sort of stuff then maybe internet forums aren't the place for you as this is the sort of thing that commonly goes on. Hope this helps :)

To be fair though once you are posting things into the public domain, they are available for all to comment on. It's the nature of the internet.

And yes it would raise a giggle for me to see someone spelling college as "collage" - the misspelling of an educational institution by a member of said institution is both humourous and slightly frightening. Spelling mistakes often jar with the reader, similarly to the way that the use of text speak does - and if one is posting for others to read then one should do one's best to spell correctly or to take it on the chin when (particularly humourous) mistakes are pointed out.
