Prices for Internal Doors?

I just got a price back from a Carpenter:

Skirting, Architraves, window boards, staining and Hanging doors:

    €4800

or if we would prefer double skirting & architraves it would cost:

    €5700

We would supply the materials (reddeal / pine /whiteoak or whatever else we want) and the doors.

While initially I thought this was expensive I was shown samples of his work and he does machineall his skirting and architraving himself so it's not a quick or off the shelve job. He would then stain them to whatever we wanted or leave the ready for us to paint. He is a perfectionist so we would be assured a top quality job and a consistent style throughout the house.

Additionally if we wanted Architraves and mouldings around the windows it would cost an additional 1500.

Just looking for views on the pricing and what others had done. It's the finish for the house so I want to put a little bit of what we saved building in these times into getting the best possible finish.

    Cheers

You haven't given details on how many doors etc. but for an average 3 bed house I'd say thats 1500 - 2000 too expensive. "Routing out his own skirting" sounds like a sales talk to increase his price.

There are 17 doors + 2 french external doors which have an architrave around them.

    We also have 31 windows

I've included a sample of the style of Door & Windows we are going for. From my understanding he will create this type of architrave from RedDeal. So it would require some machining and then leave it ready to paint it. So I don't believe it's off the shelf, a quick sand and he'll but done (but I could be wrong). The doors would be standard RedDeal doors which will be finished and stained to match whatever colour/style we want.

Personally I thought it was a little more work involved than your standard off the shelf Door/Architrave but I have no experience in this so it could really be bugger all too it.

Total of 19 doors and 31 windows is around 3 times an "average" 3 bed house as I alluded to yesterday so allowing for these new figures his quote doesn't look to far off the mark. You said you've seen his previous work and a good recomendation is worth at least 10% extra (in my opinion).
