    Is it legal for persons under 18 to consume alcohol on a private premises under the supervision of a "responsible adult"?

    Yes, so long as all of the juveniles involved have the expressed permission of their respective guardians to do so.

    We are talking about the home aren't we believe you have to be at least 16 in the case of a restaurant etc and with the express permission of a parent.

    18 if its a licenced restaurant. Others will rather frown on you for drinking anything they haven't sold you.
