Just heard on the grapevive that the Central bank in Sandyford has given 14 days notice for strike action which will affect dame st, spencer dock and the sandyford plants.
Aparently there was a case where benchmarking was awarded for sandyford employees and it went to the labour court in may last year and it was agreed that a 7% increase would be paid and back dated from 2002 as they never recieved public service benchmarking, <mod snip> The management team recieved 13% for benchmarking in 2002 whilst the normal workers, cleaners, admin staff and printers have to beg for half that, wait and see.

2002 was seven years ago and we've gone through a few rounds of benchmarking since.

If I was a union member and my union took seven years to escalute an issue, I'd have quit the union years ago.

And they want to fight their cause now?
Should have done it in 2007, nobody will support them now!

In fairness , If I had a union that took 7 yrs to get nowhere, apart from on the gate action I would also be unhappy.
Just think its funny, central bank is to blame for a lot of the coutries problems including inflated house prices and it being part of the regulatary board and it cant even regulate there own employees wages, <mod snip>

Spinaltap - I've had to edit both your posts because of the unsubstantiated accusations you make in it. Please refrain from commenting on the integrity of an organisation until they are proven to have done something wrong.

In general this post is a bit iffy because it's based on rumour - I'll keep it open for now but I'd ask posters to be careful in what they say until there is some evidence to verify it.

Its no rumour, Siptu have given the central bank 14 days strike notice from this monday, so expect pickets outside, spencer dock, dame st and sandyford.
It was a labout court ruling that the central bank didnt not adhere to.
