Howth Head Category?

Anyone know what category climb it is to the top of Howth Head ( i.e. the viewing carpark up past the summit pub)?

I read on an old post that it is a cat 3 the shorter steeper route out of the Howth, and a cat 3 taking the longer route from Sutton Cross. This was an opinion rather than fact.

    Sound right?

    1. There's no official way of measuring categories. Race organisers have their own system for assiging them and they aren't very scientific. It's just their opinion.

    2. If Howth Head were in the Tour de France, it probably wouldn't even be categorised as a climb.

Sure Howth head is a hill:D

I cycle up On the trails around the back starting at the martello tower up to the summit then down into balscadden.

On a chromo DJ bike with 150mm up front and a 36/22 crankset.
