Defective Title Deeds

    Hi

Hopefully posting this in the right forum.

I am in the process of buying a house and unfortunately we have an issue with the title deeds. The solicitor advises us they are 'bad deeds'

Is there a way around this? I have looked at title insurance. Would a bank accept this once they get indemnity from the policy?

Sorry if this has been posted before? Any help greatly appreciated.

You can get an insurance bond. Could be expensive. The banks are reluctant to accept anything but the most perfect title at the moment.

It doesn't sound too good, but it might sometimes be possible to sort out the deeds. This used to be impossible when the property market was running at breakneck speeds, but it might be a bit more possible now.

The sorts of things which tend to be involved are tracking down people who need to sign things to make the ownership of the property legitimate, but haven't. But it really depends on the situation. Is certainly worth talking to the estate agent to see if they have any ideas.
