    Hi all,

I need to invest in a laptop and I need advice.

    I have a budget of €400-€450.

The main use will be internet surfing - youtube, facebook, online banking (no heavy stuff in other words) and typing college work on word/open office.

Oh also, I have Magnet Broadband in my apartment - I believe this is the fastest in Ireland??

I have been looking at the Dell Inspiron 15 and i'm wondering if this is a good computer as I have heard bad things about Dell.....

    Any advise greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Niamh:confused:

The cheap Inspiron 15 (that I assume you are looking at - €430?) is very underpowered (single-core CPU, only 1GB ram), I wouldn't recommend it. You'd just about make do with it for your basic needs, but to be honest it's never a good idea to get something so underpowered; it'll crawl along and will only get worse over time.

Komplett have a decent Acer for €470 here. That's close enough to your budget and looks like a decent machine.

I can't see it either, but from what I can see it's not an Irish site so I would have big question marks over shipping, customs charges, warranty etc. Probably not worth the hassle unless you know what you are getting into.
