What do you think of the new members club on the racing post sight?

A bit pissed off with it myself, £200 for the year!!

It was very handy for getting ratings, sales results etc.

now we will have to pay for them:mad: yet another bill in this tough economic climate.

I think it's well worth it. I can't believe they were free for so long. They used to charge at one time. In fairness, they are not the Vincent De Paul and the newspaper sales are declining.

It's one of the tools of the trade so I don't really mind paying.

well you still can get form & stats from them for free (for how long??) :) that's enough for me, I never liked their big and clumsy website anyway, prefer gg.com

I haven't subscribed (yet!!) and will not do until they sort out the site. Its a joke since they went to .com. Slows down my whole computer

The amount they charge to advertise is criminal and they still have alot of adverts... I think it's ridiculous they are charging people, paper sales may be down but they can get the pdf for a £1...
I have used RP daily over the last 3 years but i'm not sure if i will pay to use it.... i do my own video comments, ratings aren't the be all and end all and other sites give the fields for free.
It was handy to see the relatives of horses - especially come sales time!

'Racing Post' on track for £1.51m profit after tax
THE IRISH private equity company that bought out the Racing Postnewspaper for £170 million (€215.5 million) last October expects the title and its sister operations to make post-tax profits of £1.51 million in the year to September and increase its annual net profit to more than £5 million by 2012.

Suppose the 5 million has to come from somewhere:confused:

For those missing the spotlight verdict, I'd suggest using the free timeform pages:

    http://form.horseracing.betfair.com/timeform

Just click on the tabs on the left to select the races. They give quite good information and summarise each horse - and it usually appears on the left of the page (see screenshot). Alternatively, click on the little i symbol on each horse.

    excellent link wb....
I don't really care for ratings as in all fairness they can never be accurate BUT the timeform comments are very good, unlike their RP counterparts they don't miss a beat!

You dont need the Members Club to see sales data and relatives, click the dam when looking at a horses page and you can get all the info
