I have rellocated to Dublin from the UK and have started a full time job here

I have a parter and 2 children but we are not married.

Does Ireland have a working family credits system we would be entitled to?

Im struggling to get the time to get to the welfare office at the moment and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you are earning anywhere less than a set level, somewhere round the €600 euro mark I believe, then you will be entitled to something through the Family Income Supplement scheme.

It works something like this I believe. If you are earning, say €500 a week they will give you half of the difference between that sum and €600. In that case it would be a supplement of €50. You may also be entitled to a medical card again dependent on your income not exceeding certain thresholds. Everyone is currently entitled to child benefit, although that is likely to change in the not too distant future.

Things are quite different here compared to the UK.

Every parent (usually the mother) gets child benefit. There are normally no tax benefits to having children, although you can write off medical expenses and a few other items.
