They are a main VW dealer, why would they be selling one of their own branded cars without a warranty?

it says down the bottom "trade sale no warranty" that would worry me,as another poster was saying in a different thread if a garage states trade sale no warranty they know something is about to go bang

i know this is not always the case but i would get it checked out before buying it!

Don't buy a car from a main dealer that's marked "trade sale only" unless you're a trader or unless you really, really know your stuff.

Always ask yourself, why would they sell a perfectly good car "trade only"?

If you look through their stock,
you will notice quite a few cars with No warranty with them.
I live in that town and was speaking to a friend of mine yesterday in the trade, he said all the smaller guys are going mad over them carrying on like this.
He said they are breaking the law by doing this.
You simply have to guarantee a car now.
This is how they sell some cheap.

Yeah but alot of main dealers are doing this now because they cant get the profit off the traders who normally buy these cars so they are cutting out the middle man and selling them direct. TBH if you like it then bring along a mechanic and have it checked out before buy. I wouldnt be too put off by the no warranty bit. You were only gonna end up paying for warranty in the used lot that this car would usually end up in anyway @2995 ;)

PS does it have to be a Polo? A quick serch found these for less

    Indeed
Filthy engine cover thrown on the back seat.
Dirty dents on the passenger side. I would probably offer them a grand for it.. Nothing more.

if you really like it.....turn up with 1300 cash.....see what happens.

dont forget.....timing belt etc.....you'll have to put a few 100 euro into it to get it right....good luck

If you can get almost 50% off the asking price of a €2500 car then buy it for me please. This is a car not a pair of Levi jeans, people need to be realistic, if that is the trade sale price you can bet there is very little room for further discount on a car of that value. You might get €100 or €200 at most.

The polos arrive into a lot of main dealers needing: Timing belt change, some needing water pumps, full service & possible tires after that could be anything depending on how the driver drove it. Hence why they are just sold they way the came in.

But they do tend to be a hardy little car & hard to wreck... had to get my mate a polo couple of years ago, it's the only car she never wrecked, crashed or something went wrong on!

Having said all that Main dealer trade-ins are still asking unreal prices you can get up to a 03 at a private sale for the price the dealer is asking, plus most of the privates have a recent enough NCT on them to give them a better chance of selling, plus once it has a full service history & a timing belt log, it makes it easier to see what is what on it. Know the price of of them all from 98-04 in my head trade & private cos I was hunting the market couple months back for one for a girl.
